STATUE OF ANDREAS MIAOULIS

Not a point of interest in itself, the statue of Mialous's bust is simply a tribute to admiral and, more broadly, to water commitment in the war for independence against the Ottoman Empire. Miaoulis made himself known as one of the bravest captains, and he was one of those rich possessor to give much of his fortune to transform commercial boats into warships. He was also the one who, by launching boats filled with explosive powder, allowed the enemy boats to be destroyed and the danger removed from Hydra.
