If you've got a bit of time on your hands, take a walk in spring or autumn in this tiny 8 km² reserve. Also known as the "Scandinavian Forest", it is located just 14 km west of Jerash. This forest, one of the most beautiful in the country, is home to a wide variety of trees and flowers typical of the Near East: Aleppo pines, oaks, pistachio and wild olive trees, hawthorns, acacias... It is also home to 517 plant species and 17 endangered animal species, such as the Persian squirrel. The reserve is criss-crossed by small signposted footpaths, allowing you to enjoy a rare pleasure in Jordan: walking in a forest. On weekends, however, local residents have taken to coming here for picnics with family and friends. This takes much of the peace and quiet away.
