Built in 1928 to be a school of art, this imposing building was converted into 1985 in art gallery. It now hosts over 4 700 permanent exhibits, including paintings representing the city and its region.
The monument to the Assénides (Assénevtsi) stands opposite. A gigantic communist sculpture of 1985 celebrating the three brothers of the family governing Bulgaria after its liberation from the Byzantine yoke in 1185. Superb 360 ° view of the city!
