This splendid, typically Byzantine building served as a mosque during the Turkish occupation.
This is the church of Sveti Sedmochislenitsi, in Cyrillic църква "Свети Седмочисленици". This beautiful brick church with domes is dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius and their five disciples (Clement, Gorazd, Nahum, Angelar and Sava). Splendid typically Byzantine building, the church of the seven Bulgarian saints was used as a mosque during the Turkish occupation. It was the Black Mosque. It is next to the tomb of Petko Karavelov (1843-1903), a national political figure.
