Today, this church is one of the most important examples of early Christian architecture in southern Europe.
Not far from the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, this church was built in the5th century, on the site of an ancient basilica of the 3rd century. Today it is one of the major pieces of early Christian architecture in Southern Europe. Basilica in cross with three altars, it gave its name to the city of Sofia in the 14th century. Beautiful icons inside. Nearby are the tombs of the unknown soldier and the writer Ivan Vazov, as well as a monument to Païssii de Hilendar.

Située tout proche de la grande cathédrale, cette église avec ses façades faites de briques propose un autre style mais demeure un bâtiment d'une beauté incomparable.

A little bit more of a the main paths! What a beauty! Seen for the first time in the late 1990 s, and despite a somewhat cleared look, it was splendid! Now restored, there are no words to describe it! If the view is clear, the mountains in the Balkans can be seen by far! It is also absolutely necessary to descend into the necropolis converted into a little museum quite well explained!

Très belle église surélevée très bien restaurée avec sa façade et ses voutes de briques qui lui donnent son originalité. A découvrir
