Sofia's central train station, in the north of the city, is connected to the city center by streetcars, buses and metro line 2. Train arrivals and departures are announced on electronic display boards. Prices vary according to the type of train (normal or express) and class (1st or 2nd). Trains to Varna and Burgas have very affordable sleeping cars. The main lines have a platform for bicycles.

La gare est devenue un endroit beaucoup plus agréable après avoir été récemment rénovée, mais ses environs restent à éviter de nuit. Pour le moment il y a peu de commerces à l'intérieur et les toilettes au rez-de-chaussée étaient fermées à clé sans explications, donc il fallait descendre au niveau -1. Le service de ventes aux caisses est un peu lent.
