After being ousted from Africa in 2008, the Dakar found a new favourite terrain in 2009: South America, and more specifically the Argentinean and Chilean territories. During the first South American editions, the drivers covered 9,000 km (including 4,800 km of special stages) to form a large loop between Buenos Aires and the Pacific coast of Chile. Don't forget to find out the exact places of the start and finish, as the route changes every year and crosses other countries (Chile, Peru...).
