Located in the south-western part ofaimag, on the border with Bayan-Olgiy, the Bulgan Gol nature reserve covers an area of 77 km². It stretches along the Bulgan River, at the bottom of a valley that has been protected since 1965, in particular because of the presence of some specimens of the very rare river beaver. The reserve is also home to black-tailed gazelles, argalis, Siberian ibex, as well as some large cormorants. It is also an important place for migratory birds, many of which stop here, such as the imperial eagle, considered vulnerable. It is not always easy to see these animals, but with a little luck and a lot of patience, you may be able to spot a few.
