Travel Guide Shargaljuut

About 60 kilometers north of the capital ofAymag are the hot and cold mineral springs of Shargaljuut. In an area of about 2 hectares, more than 300 springs gush out in this area embedded between the Myangan Uul and Shargaljuut Uul mountains, before flowing into the Shargaljuut river bed. The hottest of them reach a temperature of 90°C. The place is famous throughout the country, and a sanatorium has been established in the valley. The site is also considered in Mongolia as the permafrost area (frozen ground all year) closest to the desert. The southern limit of the permafrost is a few kilometers northwest of Shargaljuut.
