The largest sand dunes in the country are found here, southwest of Saynshand, close to the Chinese border. Danzan Rabjar, the fifth Noyon Khutagt, the Lama of the Gobi, is said to have instructed his disciples here in the early 19th century and performed Buddhist rituals. Thanks to his blessings, the sand is supposed to have kept curative virtues, and a sanatorium was opened there. It benefits the tourist development policy of the region. The locals claim that the sand can treat diseases such as primary biliary cirrhosis and tachycardia. The treatments offered consist of complete immersions in the hot sand.
