8 km after Fjej towards Oubari, Takarkiba (approx. 800) is one of the best access points for Oubari lakes. It is necessary to follow the path of campsites.Takarkiba is in the image of all the boroughs of the Wadi Al-Haya Wadi: The government village was built according to a geometric plan, with square houses and straight and sandy streets. The mosque occupies one block among others. A little further, at the boundary of the gardens, we will notice the remains of a ksar, an old fortified village in land, now abandoned and very degraded, and, to the east, a village built in the era of royalty, partially inhabited. The palms and gardens of Takarkiba, as throughout the valley, are still poorly maintained. The surface water used to irrigate them, fed by water contained in the erg, dries dry. The operators who embark on modernized oasis farming instead opt for the development of the virgin lands located on the other side of the road, through drilling that will draw the fossil waters to several hundred metres underground. These changes can be observed by climbing on the hills facing the village.
