CACHUELAS

These are the powerful rapids that interrupt the course of the Rio Beni 30 km above its mouth and therefore prevent the Amazon from being reached by river. These cachuelas forced Fitzcarraldo to make his famous journey to Riberalta to meet Nicolás Suárez. In the cachuelas you can fish with your bare hands, swim and admire the splendour of nature. In the dry season, the waves of the cachuelas can reach 8 meters high! A hydroelectric power station between Bolivia and Brazil is planned.
