A picturesque and peaceful place located in the north of Mombasa which offers a beautiful view on the whole Kilifi creek
The remains of the Swahili city, 60 km north of Mombasa, are less interesting than those of Gedi (Watamu) or Jumba la Mtwapa (Kikambala), but offer a beautiful view of the whole Kilifi creek. Access is by turning left just before the bridge (well signposted). It's not a very impressive archaeological site, but a peaceful, picturesque spot well worth a visit, although it could do with a little more maintenance and development. If you're lucky, you'll see monkeys and turtles.
