The Mombasa railway station is located in the west of the city, next to the airport. The Madaraka Express leaves Mombasa every day at 3pm and 10pm, arriving at the Nairobi terminus at 8.08pm for the former and at 3.35am for the latter. The trains are very punctual. In the other direction, the trains leave Nairobi at exactly the same time. It is recommended to arrive at the station at least one hour before and book at the ticket office or online at least one week in advance. For more comfort, choose first class.
