This mountain range, which rises to over 2,000 meters, is covered by thick forest and is home to a few rhinos, elephants, lions, and a host of other animals. The Matthews, like Marsabit, have a microclimate that makes the area particularly pleasant for hiking. The Matthews are located north of the small town of Wamba (70 kilometers past Archers Post), in a remote area where many Samburu people live. As you climb the Matthews, following the riverbed, you can swim in the beautiful natural pools that have formed in the rock.
