Situated at an altitude of 2,500 m, below the Sanetti plateau, Goba, which is larger than Robé, is the region's main town. Like its neighbor, it is easily accessible from Shashemene. It is the starting point for expeditions to Sof Omar, Sheikh Hussein and, above all, the Bale massif. There are a number of guesthouses, a good hotel and a number of small stalls for provisions. The market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday, a meeting place for the region's ethnic groups. From Goba, a well-maintained track crosses the Sanetti plateau, making it the highest road on the continent, at around 4,000 m above sea level.
