The peaceful village of Bilbila, 32 km from Lalibela, boasts interesting architecture with its single-storey houses with balconies. In the immediate vicinity are several interesting churches, including one of the most fascinating in the region. The church of Yemrehanna Kristos is truly impressive, and we recommend it either as part of a day trip from Lalibela with a visit to the other surrounding churches, or at the end of a trek in the Lasta mountains.
