Located between Klaipėda and Palanga, this 5,603 ha park, including 3,000 ha of sea, is Lithuania's smallest and only coastal park. The dunes are protected, as are its flora, forest, fish and animals. It's an ideal place for birdwatchers (amateur or otherwise), as the park is a major gathering place for migratory birds on their north-south journey, particularly in May and November. There are numerous cycle paths, and cycling remains the best way to explore. Numerous signs tell you everything you can see in the area. It is possible to fish in the park, but a permit is required.
