MIKALOJUS K. ČIURLIONIS MUSEUM

This art museum is partly dedicated to the painter and composer M.K. Čiurlionis (1875-1911), considered Lithuania's greatest painter. His dreamlike works, steeped in cosmogony and references to ancient pagan culture, heralded abstraction. He was also a composer, and some of his works can be heard in the music room. The rest of the museum is devoted to Lithuanian art from the ^14th to the ^19th centuries, folk art from the ^19th to the ^20th centuries and temporary exhibitions.
