From 1910 to 1932, this house was home to the Romantic poet Jonas Mačiulis (1862-1932), better known by his pseudonym Father Maironis, to whom the museum (Maironio lietuvių literatūros muziejus) is dedicated. He was not only one of the leading exponents of Lithuanian national literature. He was also a theologian - a priest, a historian and, what's more, a teacher. His most famous collection was Pavasario Balsai. Born in a small Lithuanian village, he died and was buried in Kaunas.
