NOTRE-DAME-DU-SIGNE (DIEVO MOTINOS ŽENKLO)

This imposing Russian Orthodox church was consecrated in 1903. Built during the period of Tsarist Russian domination, it is a conspicuous counterpart to Vilnius Cathedral, which stands at the end of Gediminio Avenue and can be seen from afar. Neo-Byzantine in style, it boasts beautiful painted ceilings. Unlike most churches in Lithuania, this one was not closed during the two world wars or the Soviet era. A rare fact!
