CHURCH TOWER

St Casimir's Church. Built by the Jesuits at the beginning of the 17th century, it is the oldest baroque place of worship in Vilnius. It was converted under the Tsars into an Orthodox church and transformed by the Soviets into the Museum of Atheism!

The Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity. This is the main Russian Orthodox church in Lithuania. Built in the 17th century, it can be recognized by its pink dome. In front of the altar, three steps lead up to the crypt which houses the bodies of three 14th century martyrs.

The Church of Saint Theresa. It is one of the first Baroque buildings in Lithuania, perfectly preserved. The facade, made of marble and granite, is an example of early Baroque, while the interior is late Baroque.

St Anne's Church, in Gothic style, dates from the late 15th and early 16th centuries. It is the most significant monument of the late Gothic style in Lithuania. Legend has it that Napoleon, seduced by the church, wanted to take it in his hand and carry it back to France like a fragile gem.

Behind it, the Saints-François-et-Bernard church, built at the end of the 15th century, is one of the largest Gothic buildings in the country. If you take a closer look, you will notice that the church has been equipped with loopholes and turrets. This transformation dates back to the time when the church was part of the defensive system. After restorations at the end of the 16th century, the church was redesigned in the Baroque style, which was in vogue at the time.
