This Byzantine-style cathedral was built between 1876 and 1884 to symbolize the power of Orthodox Russia. It was transformed into a planetarium during the Soviet era. After long restoration work, it has been restored to its former splendour and is now the second largest Orthodox cathedral in the Baltic States. The sumptuousness of its interior and the finesse of its icons make this cathedral a must-see.

On l'a visitée juste avant la messe le samedi à 18h00. Pour les non initiés, il est bien de voir les us et coutumes des orthodoxes se rendant à l'église.
Superbes peintures et tableaux, c'est une visite à ne pas manquer!
L'entrée est gratuite, ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas dans les églises chrétiennes de Riga!
