Quietly, this very pleasant lodge is nestled between sylve(next door!), swamps and farmland. The comfortable cottages, equipped with a balcony where a hammock hangs, are a real success. Under a natural fibre roof, there is a cosy lounge with a corner fireplace, a restaurant and a panoramic lounge with breathtaking views of the Rwenzori and the Kibale forest. The swimming pool and its surroundings are not pricked by cockchafers either! Inaugurated in May 2019, the Turaco Treetops is accessible from the town of Nkingo, split by the national highway.

Let’s go
We had been travelling for over a week by the time we got to Turaco Treetops - and I can't tell you how amazing it was to arrive at a lodge where there was a vegetarian option for dinner that wasn't just "cooked vegetables in some kind of sauce". I went 4 days in a row having curry for dinner before I came here! The food was truly delicious, with great options for vegetarians and a nice selection of wine. Considering the dinner was the same price as more budget/mid-range lodges where we stayed, and cheaper than some high-end ones, I thought it was great value and quality.
We wished we could have stayed longer here, as it was the only lodge where we stayed with a pool, and that was lovely for relaxation. I'd recommend staying that extra night at the end of your trip if you can! The rooms are huge and luxurious and you can see monkeys and birds from your rooms (amazingly clean windows by the way!).
The staff were great, and the hotel manager obviously makes a lot of effort to speak to each guest. If we ever do return to Uganda (never say never!) then would definitely be staying here again.
