Frank País, organizer of the 26th of July Movement in the province, led the revolutionary uprising of November 30, 1956, in support of the Granma landing that was initially planned to take place on the Oriente coast. Appointed coordinator of the guerrilla movement in the plain, he also provided logistical support to the guerrillas in the sierra. Arrested by Batista's police, he was assassinated on July 30, 1957. He lived in this house until the age of 5.
