PLAZA DEL CRISTO

The Calvary, the last stop on the Way of the Cross, used to be located here, in the Plaza del Cristo, where the processions from the church of San Francisco on Fridays in Lent would converge. Most of the buildings in the square were built in the 19th century, except for two houses on the corner of Teniente Rey and Bernaza, one built in the 17th century and the other in the 18th. The Santo Cristo del Buen Viaje church is located here. It is a place that is quite far from the main tourist routes.
