Since 1979, during the first two weeks of December, Havana has hosted the most important producers, directors and actors of Latin America for a resolutely contemporary program. On the occasion of the Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, one of the most important in the world in this category, several prizes are awarded, the main one being the Gran Coral, the Latin American version of the Palme d'Or.
