Travel Guide Qalb Lozeh

Entry to site: 75 LS and 10 LS. One kilometre later, the village of Qalb Lozeh is reached. While Kirk Bizeh is built on the limit of arable land, Qalb Lozeh seems to have lived only on the production of olives, as shown by numerous presses scattered around. Yet Qalb (heart) and Loze (almond) attest to an activity centered around the almond culture.But here, more than the farms, it's the church that keeps the visitor's attention. Around the church, the children of Druze families try to sell lovely embroidered towels whose motifs date back to the Byzantine era. Is it the colour of its stone, its careful invoice or the forms of its arches that still give this church today, despite the absence of its wooden roof, such a majestic air? It is often cited on the side of Saint-Siméon (to which it may be slightly earlier since it was built in the middle of the Fifth century), among the marvels of architecture of the early Christianity. The entrance was made by the narthex, composed of two columns that add to the richness of the building. Its central nave is separated from the lateral naves by two rows of three potent arcatures. Richly decorated, the massive and low pillars which serve as the basis for the breaking arches with the ancient use of the thin column to separate the naves of the basilicas. The arches support a clear-track floor that is reached by the stairs of the three-storey towers of the facade. The floor tiles, 5 m in length, are still partially in place. The nave ends with a semicircular apse that houses the raised choir of five steps. We guess the archangels saint Michel and Saint Gabriel and Saint Luke symbolized by a Bull. The bedside, which is reached by bypassing the church, recalls that of Saint-Siméon by its two orders of superimposed columns.
