What remains of the ancient Roman town of Seriana is limited to a temple of the th century. Its situation in the middle of the desert surprises the contemporary traveller. And yet in Roman times, the city occupied a very frequented crossroads. A quick tour is enough. The former Seriana was located at the crossroads of the Roman roads linking Chalcis (the present Quinnesrin) in Palmyra and Rassafé in Salamiyé, and surrounded by a fertile countryside. A citadel indicated by far the location of the city.Today only a temple, oriented to the east, recalls this past. We admire its elegant pilasters surmounted by corinthians capitals, as well as the portal is and its arc, whose style is found in Baalbek.
