The most convenient way to reach Georgetown from Langkawi is by boat. Two high-speed shuttles with a capacity of more than 150 passengers operate daily at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Langkawi and 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. from Georgetown. The crossing takes 3 hours when the sea is calm. The passengers are installed in the hull of the ship and only a few small watertight portholes allow daylight to pass through. Langkawi being a free port, you'll have to go through immigration when you arrive in Georgetown.
