REXKL

Kuala Lumpur lacked a center dedicated to alternative cultures and the young creative scene; RexKL has come to bring a breath of fresh air to the capital. The historic Art Deco building was built in the 1940s and served as a cinema until the late 2000s. After several years of neglect, it has been restored into a vibrant arts complex, including a concert hall, exhibition spaces, stores, restaurants, bars and cafes. The design of the bookstore, with its incredible shelving, is worth a look.
