After a few years in France, a group of friends, all from West Africa, decided to plan their return to the country together. They landed in the 1970 s in Kayes region and then created this small village. Thirty years later, the agricultural work of these pioneers of return is cited as an example to the entire young gérération. The Patriarch of Somankidicoura admits almost embarrassed: " We have not become rich, but for thirty years now we have been living on our land. We grow on nearly fifty hectares where there was nothing other than wildfires… Our families eat, all our children go to school… We have become living examples… ".
