Center that works on the protection of two species of turtles that come to lay eggs on the beaches of the area in Akumal
Since 1993, the centre has been working on the protection of two species of turtles that come to lay their eggs on the beaches of the area: the tortuga blanca or verde (Chelonia mydas) and the tortuga caguama (Caretta caretta), which are present between April and November. The centre offers volunteer work, with night patrols on the beach. In case of encounter with a turtle, use a red lamp to avoid disorienting it, remove any obstacle that could hinder its path, erase the tracks and mark with a stick the location of the nest, then contact the CEA.

On arrive très facilement et pour pas cher en bus à la plage depuis Playa Del Carmen : pas la peine de réserver un tour pour ça ! Sur place, on voit les tortues de suite, sans nager pendant des heures. Elles sont là, tout prêt, même les enfants peuvent en profiter. On a également vu une raie. Très sympa à faire en n'oubliant pas de respecter le règlement : ne pas toucher les tortues !

Plage d'Akumal magnifique (sous les cocotiers).Sans passer par le centre ecologique,nous avons pu nous baigner en dehors de la zone reservée au centre et nous avons pu observer les tortues.N'oubliez pas votre matériel de snorkelling pour en prendre plein les yeux!Possibilité de restauration sur place.

Akumal est le paradis des tortues. N'oubliez pas votre masque et votre tuba, vous ne serez déçus. Les tortues sont bien présentes, à quelques coups de palme du bord. Nous avons aussi vu différentes sortes de poissons et des raies.

Ecological centre on sea fauna and turtles. The beach just a few metres away is exceptional and deserted. You can even see turtles with a mask and snorkel.
