A festival in honor of the Virgin of Izamal, patron saint of Yucatán. Processions, dance shows, concerts...

In 1648, the image of the Virgen de la Asunción de Izamal traveled to Mérida, where she miraculously cured the plague epidemic. The miracle was repeated in 1730 and again in 1744, leading the colonial authorities to declare the Virgen de Izamal patron saint of Yucatán. An annual festival is organized in her honor in Izamal, with important processions on December 8, bullfighting shows, dances... An authentic religious festival that attracts a crowd of pilgrims.
