The oldest part of the city to appreciate the few historical buildings in Ciudad del Carmen

It is the oldest district of the city. In 1722 the first houses with guano palm roofs were built here. As you stroll through the area, you will notice some historical buildings, such as the old customs house, as well as several religious temples, including the Templo de Jesús Nazareno and the Iglesia del Guanal. You can get a glimpse of the neighbourhood by walking down Calle 22, the old commercial street, which passes through Parque Antón de Alaminos and leads to Parque Zaragoza, where the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen stands nearby.
