Impressive monumental statue of the Virgen del Carmen, a work of the Mexican sculptor Sergio Peraza

This monumental statue of the Virgen del Carmen is 12 meters high (25 meters including the base). It is the work of the Mexican sculptor Sergio Peraza. No less than 15 months of work and 15 tons of bronze were mobilized. The sculpture is impressive. It fits perfectly into the setting: the Virgin seems to come straight out of the sea to protect the huge boats seen in the background. Inaugurated in 2014, the "Stella Maris" (Latin for "starfish") has become an emblem of the city.
