The ONF has marked out nine hiking trails that allow you to discover the original beauty of the Vieux-Fort mangrove: the Ouliée flow. The details of the tracks and trails are available on the website of the tourist office. The equestrian brigade of the ONF patrols the state forests of the coast for prevention. The island being the first egg-laying site of the Lesser Antilles, the ONF is committed to the protection of marine turtles that come to lay eggs at night on the beaches. The approach is possible with a guide of the ONF (reservation required).

Après renseignements pris sur internet grâce à l'excellent accueil du site de l'office du tourisme de Marie Galante, nous avons envoyé depuis la France un chèque de réservation à ces derniers pour faire une sortie de nuit à la recherche des tortues, l'idéal étant d'en voir une pondre... Le jour J nous avons reçu un sms pour nous rendre sur le lieu "secret" où nous attendait le guide et nous avons marché sur la plage, de 20 h à 23 h sans faire de bruit mais avec beaucoup d'informations données discrètement par notre accompagnateur tout au long de notre quête. La chance fut avec nous puisque nous avons trouvé une trace, l'avons suivie dans le sous-bois et avons pu voir, émus, la femelle pondre et enterrer ses œufs. Mangés par les moustiques, nous repartîmes heureux...
