André-Michel Breger, a photographer by training, has rehabilitated with his wife, Annick, the 48 olive trees planted around their farm bought 30 years ago. Today, the estate has 1,200 trees grown without irrigation or treatment. The olives, harvested by hand, are pressed at the Varzelles and Luberon mills to produce a highly prized AOP Haute-Provence oil. And the shop attracts customers: the couple sells their oil in Forcalquier, from June to September, at the Gouvan mill, the last "piste" mill in France.
