The tower of Melusine, the only preserved part of the castle of Lusignan which is located in Vouvant.
The Lusignan fortress once stood on the site of what is now Place du Bail, alongside the fortified village. The Mélusine tower is the only part of the castle still standing. Legend has it that it was built in one night by the fairy Mélusine. This watchtower dates back to 1242. Its walls are 3 m thick and its 120 steps provide access to a height of 45 m, and a vast panoramic view of both the forest to the south and the bocage to the north. The view over the Mère valley is well worth the detour.

le village de Vouvant "classé plus beau village de France" est très agréable et du haut de la tour mélusine la vue y est splendide ( vue sur la forêt , sur le village , sur le plan d'eau .
It is worth climb all these steps for the once inside, but frankly 2nd for that I find that it is a little exaggerated
