Visit a garden created in 1987, featuring an ivy-clad fountain and pond in Thiré.
Around a 17th century building, this garden was created in 1987 by the renowned conductor William Christie, who was largely inspired by Italian and French mannerist and baroque gardens. The architecture is as elaborate as it is seductive, with its boxwood beds, yew and hornbeam hedges, and linden tree mails that follow one another in multiple terraces. To be seen, the main courtyard, the cloister (planted with yew trees and roses), the dovecote, the American garden, the vegetable garden, the red garden, the Chinese-style green theatre, the boschetto, the water mirror surrounded by plane trees and the orchard. A set as varied as harmonious with its boxwood embroidery, its rose garden and its rustic pergola, that one takes pleasure in going through. The visit begins with the magnificently ordered courtyard of honour with its boxwoods cut into cones or very low in embroidery. Then there is the green theatre with its yew trees cut to resemble Chinese motifs. The garden of the cloister is ordered in the French style and divided into 4 central squares with the East gable covered with impressive rosebushes Madame Alfred Carrière. A fountain and its pond covered with ivy complete its peaceful atmosphere. Seen from the terrace, a long perspective discovering the large pond is reminiscent of Italian gardens. If you turn your back to the pond, in the alley, you will have another look at the building and you will see the pigeon house above which white peacocks fly.
