To discover this adorable corner, get on a bike! The Salaire Bridge spans the Vertonne River. It is the natural boundary between Olonne-sur-Mer and Île-d'Olonne. A small path meanders through the marshes. In the past, to work in the marshes or to graze the animals, you had to pay a toll to cross the Vertonne by ferry. The customs officers were paid partly in salt, hence the name "salaire" (salary). Depending on the season, observe swans, seagulls, terns, gulls and cormorants, and the typical flora: saladelle, obione, salicorne.
