An old coaching inn dating from the 19th century is the setting for the Auberge de l'Isle, on the banks of the Sèvre nantaise. You can dine in the dining room or on the terrace by the water's edge, giving the place an attractive bucolic charm. Settled under the wisteria, you'll enjoy well-executed cuisine, based on fresh produce in a menu of land and sea dishes, with a winter menu featuring: Iberian pork loin, cooked at a low temperature, roasted in butter, herb jus and, to finish, the cold dark chocolate and pistachio hot dish, red fruit marshmallow and roasted pumpkin seeds.

I came with my partners family for a large gathering who are local, with myself having travelled all the way from North yorkshire, I was very pleased with the fast, friendly and attentive service and the knowledge of every ingredient of the four meals we each had, fish and vegetables that were local and fresh with the vegetables grown in the garden that you can clearly see from the outdoor seating, chicken that was perfectly cooked in a delicious sauce, a great selection of French cheeses and of course a succulent chocolate cake at the very end, very much a memorable and delightful experience in a very beautiful location.
