Visit the port of Le Bonhomme, located on the Bay of Bourgneuf, offering a lovely view of the entrance to Noirmoutier harbor.
Situated on the Baie de Bourgneuf side, at the narrowest point of the island, and made up of a few oyster huts, it houses only a small proportion of the oyster and mussel producers, the others being in the polder. Rows of tables stretch out beneath the sea, lined with bags of oysters at various stages of ripening. From the seawall, you'll have a lovely view of the entrance to Noirmoutier harbour, the château and church, further north the Sableaux beach and its beach huts and, straight ahead, the Dames lighthouse at the edge of the Bois de la Chaise.
