Every summer in Challans, 4 old-fashioned fairs take us back in time, with folk entertainment and 20th-century costumes
Every summer, Challans presents on 4 Thursdays, a gigantic fresco telling the past, the habits and customs of the 1910s. Thanks to the participation of 1700 volunteers, in an atmosphere of an old-fashioned fair, discover the period costumes, bicycles, motorcycles, jalopies and trades of yesteryear. The youngest will see what school was like at the time, and for the older ones, relive the fairs with farm products of the region. Folklore groups will give rhythm to the day with traditional dances. This free event was awarded the Grand Prix du tourisme de la Vendée in 1999.

Fête de Challans
3eme fois pour nous , toujours aussi agréable et convivial , petit bémol pour les lavandières qui ont refusé de costumer ma petite fille ( alors que juste devant nous un petit garçon l’a fait)raison invoquée : pause et 15 ´ plus tard on ne le fait plus !!!!! Pas très aimables……et grande déception pour l’enfant

Trés belle manifestation ! On replonge dans la Vendée d'AUtrefois, avec costumes traditionnelles, gastronomie à l'ancienne, musiques et danses folkloriques vendéenne... Tout pour ravir les enfants (et les adultes ;-)) !!
