These Jonte gorges, located in Saint-Pierre-des-Tripiers, are marked by a series of small hamlets.
Between Le Rozier and Meyrueis, the Jonte Gorges are dotted with charming hamlets such as Le Truel and Les Douzes, where the majestic shadows of vultures find refuge and protection. Not far away, the little chapel of Saint-Gervais stands proudly, its cemetery still used by the inhabitants of the valley below. It's the last place in France where coffins are carried on human backs along a cliff path. The starting point for this singular procession is behind the Jonte restaurant.

Site magnifique offrant de très nombreux sentiers de balades/rando. On peut aussi bien se promener dans la vallée que plus haut sur la falaise et ainsi surplomber les gorges en se promenant entre le vase de Chine et le vase de Sèvres sous l’œil amical ? ;-) des vautours.
beautiful hiking, especially on the cliffs of the gorges overlooking the vultures. there are many climbing paths it is not for the faint-hearted to swim because the water is cold
