Maison Auzier is a confectioner in the purest tradition of Montpellier. For three generations, it has jealously guarded the secret of old recipes and carefully selected each of its raw materials. It has received the distinction of Entreprises du patrimoine vivant. It is also part of the Sud de France brand, which distinguishes products from the Occitania/Pyrenees-Mediterranean region.

History. The Auzier company was created in 1923 by Léon Auzier, a confectioner worker in Montpellier. At that time, there were five confectioners in Montpellier who all made licorice, gum balls, marshmallow and dragées. They were the last successors of a corporation from the Middle Ages when confectionery was next to pharmacy, in a town where Jacques Coeur had introduced oriental products. In 1600, the market represented 4,000 tons of candy between small and large manufacturers. However, the shortage of gum arabic, for one year (an essential raw material), saw many confectioners disappear. In 1976, Guy Auzier took over the Chabernac liquor store (which originated in 1890) and settled in Saint-Gély-du-Fesc. In 2009, Auzier-Chabernac launched an organic range and developed wellness products (sugar-free, propolis and essential oils).

The products. Auzier-Chabernac is a range of licorice and gums: menthol pastilles, honey licorice, black masks, eucalyptus triangles... But also a range of apple marshmallows, salted butter caramel, coated with chocolate..., or a range of fine almond dragees, avola extra almonds, hazelnuts, chocolate... There are also candies with a good acidulous or aniseed taste, and finally a range of organic confectionery.
