This church was built on the site of an older building, around the 15th century
Classified as a historical monument, the Gothic church of Aÿ was built on the site of an older building, around the 15th century. Around 1550, a stone tower was erected, then topped with a spire. But no sooner was it finished than a fire destroyed the vaults. The Agesians then simply consolidated the tower by closing arches and building four huge buttresses. The church has a large French baroque organ dating from 1749. Every week in May a classical concert is held there.
