HÔTEL-RESTAURANT TERRE DE BRENNE
Terre de Brenne is within walking distance from the castle of Azay-le-Ferron in a listed former coaching inn. What could be more natural than going to lunch there after a visit! This restaurant was taken over at the beginning of January 2015 by Isabelle and Alain who wish to boost the place and bring innovation to this corner of Brenne. The restaurant has already taken on the appearance of parisian bistro. The chef who always has cheeky humour does not hesitate to come and go around the room. At lunchtime, a set menu with ultra-correct price offers a bistro cuisine with a choice of 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 desserts. This day, Futé enjoyed a quiche as a starter followed by a calf's head and a tiramisu, to which it gave a very correct note taking into account the rate. Note: the presentation is not left to chance even for lunch service. On weekend, the cuisine moves upmarket and puts the classics with sauces and subtle arrangements off the track, it favours local quality products: prime rib with marrow Limousin, duck from Ferme de Plume Cane, local cheese, snails... The atmosphere becomes jazzier. The room is well-lit thanks to the two round glass windows (remains of the horses' passage in 18th century), it is furnished with small dark wood tables and comfortable black and white chairs. The three terraces delight holidaymakers, they allow you to use more than a hundred seats and one of them has an outdoor grill. Among the other innovations: a wine cellar which showcases the world's wines (also for takeaway sales) and a bar with rum and whiskies to be enjoyed in the small lounge at the entrance. The service is smiling and dynamic, what more can you ask for?
