Discover Marche : Geography
The Marche and Umbria are two small regions of Italy joined together by the Sibylline Mountains (70,000 hectares). It is said that Umbria is one of the most wooded regions of the country. Between rivers and lakes, it is crossed by large valleys, agricultural hills and mountains. Blue and green reign supreme here, as in the Marche, a region also made up of hills and mountains, but with the addition of a considerable coastline bordered by the clear waters of the Adriatic. Its coastline is 160 km long. The Marche region comprises five provinces: Ancona, Macerata, Pesaro-Urbino, Ascoli Piceno and Fermo, while Umbria is divided into two provinces: Perugia and Terni. These two regions are divided into numerous protected areas: Umbria has eight regional parks, the Marche region includes four, in addition to forest areas
