NUS CASTLE

The castle overlooking Nus is located near the hamlet of Plane, on a rocky outcrop overlooking the starting point of the Saint-Barthélemy valley. Construction seems to date back to the late ^13th century, although the large square tower on the eastern side of the castle, which collapsed in the early ^20th century, resembles the towers built in the valley in the ^11th and ^12th centuries. The final shape of the château, modified several times during the ^14th and ^15th centuries, is the result of a major restructuring campaign launched around 1595, the date inscribed on the entrance to the courtyard.
